Agreement
By using Sampultu, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or related services.
About Sampultu
Sampultu is an independent utility for managing the samples, banks, sequences, and stored state of a Korg volca sample 2, over a USB-MIDI connection. It converts audio files, transfers them to and from the device, and reads and writes pattern and snapshot data.
Not Affiliated with Korg
Sampultu is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or supported by Korg Inc. “Korg,” “volca,” and “volca sample” are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe the hardware the app works with. Using this app is not a substitute for, and may not be covered by, any warranty or support Korg provides for your device.
The App Writes to Your Hardware
This is the important one. Sampultu sends data to a physical device you own. Sending a sample to a slot overwrites whatever was in that slot, including factory content. Restoring a pattern backup overwrites the sequences currently on the device. Restoring a snapshot overwrites the device's stored state. Deleting a slot removes its contents. These actions are performed at your direction and cannot generally be undone from within the app.
Back up anything you care about — samples, patterns, and snapshots alike — before you overwrite it. Sampultu can download your slots and save your patterns and snapshots to files precisely so you can do this, but it is your responsibility to actually do it.
Transfers Can Fail
Transfers depend on your device, your operating system, its MIDI stack, the USB cable and any hub or adapter in the chain, your volca's firmware version, its power state, and the state of its memory. A transfer can be interrupted, time out, or fail partway. Interrupting a transfer — unplugging the cable, losing power, backgrounding or force-quitting the app, or letting a battery die mid-send — can leave a slot, the device's memory, or a pattern in an incomplete or unexpected state, and in some cases can require power-cycling or reformatting the device to recover.
The app requires volca sample 2 firmware 1.10 or later. We do not warrant compatibility with any particular device, firmware version, operating system version, cable, adapter, or hardware revision, including future ones.
Assumption of Risk
You are solely responsible for your use of Sampultu and for any transfer, overwrite, deletion, restore, or other action you take with it. You assume all risks of using the app with your hardware, including the risk of losing samples, losing sequences, losing factory content, corrupting device memory, needing to reformat or power-cycle the device, and any effect on your device's warranty or support status.
Optional Downloads and Third-Party Content
Stem separation is an optional feature that requires a one-time download of machine-learning models from a third-party host. That download, and the models themselves, are provided by their own publishers under their own terms and licences. The Packs screen links to third-party sample-pack publishers; those packs, their pages, their pricing, and their licences are theirs, not ours. We do not host, sell, or warrant any third-party pack, and we are not responsible for third-party sites you choose to visit.
Your Audio and Your Rights
You keep ownership of the samples, recordings, names, patterns, and snapshots you work with in Sampultu. You are responsible for having the rights to any audio you load, record, convert, separate, transfer, or export. Do not use the app to copy, distribute, or use audio you do not have the right to use, including commercial sample libraries whose licences do not permit it.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Sampultu for unlawful, infringing, or deceptive purposes.
- Load, transfer, separate, or export audio you do not have the right to use.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, or abuse the app or services.
- Use the app in a way that suggests it is a Korg product or is endorsed by Korg.
Purchases
The app does not currently offer in-app purchases or subscriptions, and does not include in-app ads. If it is distributed through an app store, that store handles distribution and any store-level payment, pricing, taxes, refunds, and availability under its own terms. If we introduce paid features later, they will be described at the point of purchase and these terms will be updated.
Intellectual Property
Sampultu, Best Practice, the app design, branding, software, and related materials are owned by Best Practice or its licensors. These terms do not grant you ownership of the app or brand assets. Open-source components included in the app remain under their own licences.
Disclaimers
Sampultu is provided “as is” and “as available,” with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, availability, and error-free performance.
We do not warrant that transfers will succeed, that audio conversion or stem separation will preserve any particular fidelity or produce any particular result, that backups will be complete or restorable, or that the app is suitable for any particular device, firmware, or workflow.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Best Practice and its owners, employees, contractors, partners, affiliates, and licensors will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or other damages arising from or related to your use of, reliance on, or inability to use Sampultu.
This limitation includes lost or corrupted samples, lost sequences, lost factory content, damaged or unusable hardware, voided warranties, lost data, lost work, lost profits, interrupted performances or sessions, and claims by third parties, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes
We may update Sampultu or these terms from time to time. Continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.
